Slumps and the Law of Attraction

So admittedly, I’ve been in a bit of a slump these past 6 months or so. I’m a big believer of the Law of Attraction, the idea that thoughts become things. That same begets the same. I know some think it’s flukey hippie nonsense but I’ve had too much proof in my own life to just write it off as nonsense. I’m sure I’ll write about these examples at length in another post someday soon.

The past two years have been a rush. First, with grad school then the need to find a job. It’s been so rushed, I stopped practising the Law of Attraction effectively. Instead, I let fear and worry take over and true to it’s nature, that has brought me more fear and worry and stress. The crazy thing is I know all I have to do is let go. “Let Jesus take the Wheel,” so to speak. It’s the same concept as religion really. Be grateful for all you have now, put your intentions out there into the Universe which I suppose can also be called prayer then just have Faith that the Universe will conspire to bring you all you want and need. But the fears of the material world have gotten the better of me these past few months. “What if I don’t find a job quick enough?” “What if I don’t find the job I want?” “How will I pay my bills?” and etc etc… all the normal fears. I have though decided to realign my center. Adjust my juju, as I like to call it. And I’ve decided the best way to do this is to create a Vision Board and keep a Gratitude Journal.

Tip for a Successful Vision Board

Now you’ve probably heard of a Vision Board before. It’s what people use as a visual reminder of what you out of Life. But here’s a secret ; it’s not just about filling it with things that you want. It’s also important, if not more important, to also fill it with things that make you FEEL good. Visuals of things that give you that warm fuzzy feeling and leaves a trace of a smile on your lips.

If images don’t quite do it, try compling a playlist that gives you that same feeling. Sometimes it’s easier with music… it takes you back to another time… or just has the ability to make your heart swell… or even remind you of how far you’ve come from the time and way you were when you first heard that particular tune.

It’s been a while since I heard this song. Seeing how far I’ve come since this came out… the year they came to KL and I was artist liaison for them… helps with the gratitude and reminds me, that as much as I would like to achieve in the future, I’ve had a very priviledged and blessed life to this point. Nothing to turn my nose up at.

Tips for a Successful Gratitude Journal

If you already practice or have heard of the Law of Attraction, you’ll know that a key component to recieving more of what you want in Life is to be grateful for everything that you already have. When you concentrate on what you don’t have, you’ll just create more lack. So one way to give thanks and focus on all the things you have to be grateful for is to keep a journal. Personally, I list down 10 things everyday that I’m thankful for. And they can be big things… like getting a promotion… or what we may consider small things that we may take for granted… that having a good cup of coffee in the morning.

Here’s the secret to making your Gratitude Journal practice really powerful. Don’t think think of the things that you are grateful for and rattle them off like a shopping list. Rather, feel the gratitude for the things that you are listing down. It will be hard at first, but keep at it and continue to try and feel it a little more each day to go through the list. Eventually, you’ll feel a powerful surge of gratitude and that’s the powerful energy that will attract more of everything you want out of Life.

Once you feel that Gratitude and put your intentions out there, the Universe will conspire to make it a reality.
